Vision of Image

Group Exhibition

24. 9. – 4. 11. 2020
Gallery 1

The exhibition Vision of Image brings closer the perspective of artwork perception and refers to necessary activation of one's own mind, when simply looking at displayed image becomes seen. Exhibiting artists work with visual signs and pictorial symbolism as an element referring to imaginative story, but also their expectations from the viewer her/himself. „Presented artworks encourage the viewer to read visual narrative,“ describes curator Adéla Machová. It’s necessary to look beyond the frame of painting, explore environment of presented work, to be interested in author's inspiration, context of artwork origin and, last but not least, transfer ideas, fantasies and imaginations into words that can help us uncover hidden content and meaning.

Depicted images of the world, certain situations, emotions and dreams speak a language that was prepared and given by author using visual signs, symbolism, lines and colors, thus creating artwork as carrier of idea — message. What is hidden in the image? And what ideas (visions) does our experience bring?

Exhibition opens to its audience two independent creative approaches in contemporary art and does not aim to present a whole range of possibilities; on the contrary, it builds on the simple principle of mutual distinction of chosen approaches and personal curatorial experience from abroad internships 2017 — 2019 within TICASS project. It presents abstract work (Elisa Muliere, Małgorzata Szymankiewicz, Aniela Wesoły) characterized by its objectlessness and poetics which uses the means of expression of colors, lines and structures, and conceptual art (Daniel Hanzlík, Kitso Lynn Lelliott, Brian Wekesa) working with pictorial symbol bearing an idea dealing with various cultural and social topics. „From various angles, the exhibiting authors blur or criticize nature of reality, which they first listen to, search for rhythm, discover the pace and let the reality breathe anew, “ adds curator Adéla Machová.
