The opening ceremony for the exhibition Project: Wardrobe will take place on March 18, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the House of Arts in Ústí nad Labem. It will be preceded by a guided tour with the curator at 4:30 p.m.

Project: Wardrobe is the main exhibition of the fourth edition of the DESIGN ÚSTÍ festival and focuses on contemporary fashion and textile design in the context of sustainability, local production, and the cultural memory of the region.

The exhibition views clothing as a multi-layered phenomenon – an everyday necessity, a bearer of identity, and a record of social, ecological, and economic changes. The curatorial concept connects the historical textile and manufacturing traditions of the Ústí nad Labem Region with current design approaches that respond to issues of responsible production, circular principles, and the relationship between people and materials.

The exhibition at Gallery 1 DUÚL will present the work of well-known designers, studios, and projects operating at the intersection of fashion, craft, and experimentation. In addition to finished garments and objects, it will also offer insight into the process of their creation – from the choice of materials and technology to questions of ethics, durability, and use. The architectural design of the exhibition works with the principle of the wardrobe as a space of memory, transformation, and personal relationship to things.

The project: The Wardrobe is conceived as an open platform for the convergence of different approaches to fashion and textiles, from local initiatives to contemporary design practice, inviting visitors to reflect on what clothing means today, where it comes from, and what values it embodies.
