An exhibition by students and graduates of the Fashion and Textile Design Studio at the Faculty of Art and Design, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, held at the LOVOgalerie in Lovosice.

Porta Bohemica – this is the name of the picturesque canyon-like valley of the Elbe River, a symbolic gateway to Bohemia. We chose the name Porta Fashionica as a conscious reference to this place: as a metaphor for entry, encounter, and passage through the landscape of creation. The starting point of the exhibition is Ústí nad Labem, where all the exhibitors studied or are still studying at the Studio of Clothing and Textile Design at the Faculty of Art and Design of the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University. It was here that their paths crossed and from here they diverge into the diverse forms of contemporary fashion and textile practice.

The exhibition is divided into two thematic sections. The first, Tribute to Denim, presents the work of current students who explore traditional materials in new contexts and artistic approaches. The second section consists of selected works by graduates of the studio. Their representation was conceived to illustrate the wide range of professional paths and career opportunities that this field of study offers.

Porta Fashionica thus becomes a symbolic gateway to dialogue between generations, approaches, and visions of contemporary clothing and textile design.
