Making stone resonate, a poetic idea that Jan Prošek has decided to artistically explore for the Gallery 3. When the structure of stone becomes an element of sound impulse, we encounter the resonance of layered solid natural matter. The exhibition project On the Edge of Sound continues the author's long-term creative activities connected with the theme of exploring the landscape, both as a place of residence and its identification through material matter.
Jan Prošek (*1977) focuses in his art on the relationship and feelings of people towards the landscape, which individuals enter for various reasons and needs. The essential elements of his creative work are actions, performative gestures, rituals, or walking, relating to space and human perception of the surrounding environment. He works with processes of perceiving the immediate environment and uses documentary formats for the resulting work, including site-specific installations, drawings, prints, and audiovisual recordings. He studied in the Studio of Performance under Tomáš Ruller at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Technology in Brno (2000–2007), where he gradually began using digital media as a means of documenting his own actions, which are dominated by his own experience or personal experience during the artistic event. He works as an assistant professor in the Studio of Interactive Media at the Faculty of Art and Design at J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem.
