Ian Mikyska

17. 9. – 18. 11. 2026
Gallery 3

A site-specific electroacoustic composition along the Stříbrnický brook explores the soundscape of this melodious stream in Berta Valley in Ústí nad Labem. The electroacoustic composition, consisting of long tones tuned to specific pitches of the bubbling parts of the selected natural element (Stříbrnický brook) invites audio contemplation.

Visual artist and composer Ian Mikyska (*1994) studied in London and Berlin, and now lives and works in Prague. In 2018, he completed his bachelor's degree in composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. He continued his studies at DAMU in Prague with a master's degree in Alternative and Puppet Theater Direction. His work, focused on sound in contemporary visual art, connects various media, repeatedly exploring the connections between perception and context, between ideas and present experience, between illusory imagination and reality.
