We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition within the DESIGN USTÍ Festival prepared in LOVOgallery in Lovosice. The starting point of the exhibition is Ústí nad Labem, where all the exhibitors have studied or are still studying in the Clothing and Textile Design Studio at the Faculty of Art and Design of the University of Economics and Design. It is here that their paths intersected and from there they branched out into various forms of contemporary fashion and textile practice.

About the exhibition:
Porta Bohemica - this is the name of the picturesque canyon-like valley of the Elbe River, the symbolic gateway to Bohemia. We chose the name Porta Fashionica as a conscious reference to this place: as a metaphor for entering, meeting and passing through the landscape of creation. The starting point of the exhibition is Ústí nad Labem, where all the exhibitors studied or are still studying at the Studio of Fashion and Textile Design at the Faculty of Art and Design of the Jagiellonian University. It is here that their paths intersected and from there they branched out into the diverse forms of contemporary fashion and textile practice.

The exhibition is divided into two thematic units. The first, Homage to Denim, presents the work of contemporary students who explore the traditional material in new contexts and artistic approaches. The second unit consists of selected works by alumni of the studio. Their representation has been designed to illustrate the wide range of career paths and employment opportunities that this study offers.

Porta Fashionica thus becomes a symbolic gateway to a dialogue between generations, approaches and visions of contemporary fashion and textile design.
