A lecture by British experiential designer and academic Dr Daniel Felstead focuses on a critical examination of the myths and ideologies of large technology corporations as they intersect with the human body and contemporary culture.

The central focus is the project and video game Jankspace: Residues of The Stack (created in collaboration with Jenn Leung). Jankspace is a third-person exploration game set in a surreal labyrinth of interconnected showrooms and the gothic underworld of the megastructure known as The Stack. Taking on the role of the digital twin of icon and fashion infiltrator Julie Fox, the player navigates dark, crimson-lit spaces, collects fashion artefacts and, through snippets of the film Welcome to Jankspace, Babes, unravels the story of this world.

By interweaving fashion glamour, chaotic media theory and grotesque technological horror, the project explores the deep chasm between the glittering promise of technology, the allure of fashion and their creaking, wretched reality.
