What We Talk about When We Talk about Family

28. 5. – 1. 7. 2020
main hall / group exhibition

Artists: Anna Daučíková, Sylva Francová, Miroslav Hašek, Lenka Klodová, Matky a Otcové, Markéta Oplištilová, Dany Vigil

Curator: Maro Hajrapetjan

The exhibition project What We Talk about When We Talk about Family presents the topic of family as dynamic changing medium of interpersonal relationships. Our attention is focused on how this topic is currently reflected on Art scene. How authors view this concept themselves, whether through their personal experiences, opinions or more general questions of human coexistence.

This project is an opened field for communication of different approaches. There are artists represented in the exhibition who worked with the topics of relationships continuously in the past and they keep coming back to it (Anna Daučíková, Lenka Klodová, Matky a Otcové, Sylva Francová). There will also be works dealing with authors’ family relationships (Markéta Oplištilová, Dany Vigil) or work inspired by artist’s new life experience (Miroslav Hašek). For some artists this exhibition became an opportunity to revalue their art trajectory, to create new tought connections to old artworks or to share part of their personal story.

The project is prepared by a student of the 1st year of the follow-up master’s degree of Curatorial Studies on FUD UJEP.
