A hole is a temporary placeholder for a missing part of a whole.
A hole defines what is missing in the overall space, it makes the contours of absence visible. A hole creates an ambiguous situation. It disrupts the continuity of space, but at the same time it prompts reflection on its overall shape. In the case of a text, there wouldn’t be a hole, but rather a dash, a hyphen. In the context of the city, a hole manifests incompleteness, transformative processes and their destructive as well as imaginative potential.
A hole is a mistake, opening a path for a change.
