In Motion

Gallery 2 / 18. 9. – 23. 11. 2024

Curator: Kateřina Javůrková

The exhibition “In Motion,” conceived by doctoral candidate Kateřina Javůrková, engages with the intricate dynamics of movement within the realm of graphic design. The exhibition’s concept is centered on the exploration of analog-generated kinetic graphic design, where movement emerges through the interplay between the viewer and the spatial environment, including the objects meticulously placed within it. This endeavor, thus, probes deeply into the phenomenon of movement and the multifaceted ways in which it can be perceived.

The exhibited works/objects not only invite but almost demand visitor interaction, thereby cultivating diverse and sophisticated forms of communication. The exhibition contemplates the transformative process through which motion evolves from a static medium and examines the pivotal role that movement and interaction play in the transmission of information. By transposing motion design, traditionally confined to the digital domain, into the tangible physical environment, and by actively engaging the exhibition’s visitors, the experience of the viewer is elevated, recontextualized, and expanded into a richer, more complex experiential plane.
